Drywall planning

Drywall Sheets, Compound, Tape, and Screws

A drywall sheet estimate should include finishing supplies because tape, compound, screws, and corner bead are easy to forget.

Calculate wall and ceiling area, subtract large openings, add waste, then divide by sheet area. A 4x8 sheet is 32 square feet; larger sheets reduce joints but are harder to move.

Plan joint tape, compound, screws, corner bead, sanding supplies, and dust protection. Finish level and installer technique can change compound usage.

Drywall work creates dust and can expose older materials. Use proper protection and get professional guidance for suspected lead paint, asbestos, mold, or structural issues.
