Fence planning

Fence Posts, Pickets, Rails, and Concrete

Fence estimates depend on post spacing first, then rails, pickets or panels, concrete, gates, and site conditions.

Post count usually starts with the total run divided by post spacing, then adds one end post. Corners, gates, and slope changes can add more posts.

For picket fences, combine picket width and gap to estimate how many fit across the run. Panels use a different buying pattern and may force layout changes.

Call for utility marking before digging, and check local fence height, setback, and permit rules before treating any material count as final.
