Mulch Bags vs Cubic Yards

Bagged mulch is easy for small beds, but cubic-yard delivery often wins once the project gets large enough.

A cubic yard equals 27 cubic feet. If your bags hold 2 cubic feet, one cubic yard is about 14 bags before waste or settling.

Bags are easier to carry, store, and return. Bulk delivery can be cheaper for larger beds, but delivery fees, driveway access, and cleanup matter.

Mulch settles after spreading. If you are refreshing an existing bed, estimate only the new depth you plan to add instead of the full final depth.
